Watch Out For WORD!!

In week 4 of John Thornhill’s Masterclass we uploaded that Graphics to our blog. It was actually pretty easy following the step by step videos and transcripts. I have finally learned how to use FTP to transfer the files and upload them!!

One thing I think y’all should know is if you are writing to your blog in a Word document….DON’T! Word has some crazy coding (that you can’t even see!) and if you don’t know anything about HTML (like me, although I am learning!) the coding can mess up what your readers are seeing! Found THAT out this past week! DUH!

Notepad on the other hand is just a text document that has no back door coding and won’t mess up your blog. Dang! The internet and websites are just a little picky if you ask me!! Oh well, that makes it more interesting!

I normally use Firefox and my blog was just as cool as ever and a friend of mine went to go see how it looks. He uses IE and the sidebars and widgets were not showing up!! I kept looking for the problem thinking it was something I had done with the graphics, and it wasn’t! I deleted them; re uploaded them, looked and looked for something that I may have done wrong. I was talking to Paula over at the support desk and she pointed me in the right direction! She knew it was coding, I just had to find out WHERE???

How frustrating!

So I started going back through my blog posts to see if something was wrong (like I know anything about THAT!!) and I found a bunch of nonsense in one of my older blog posts.  I deleted that and VIOLA!! It was fixed! So now I know I need to use Notepad and copy and paste to write my blog posts! Here are a few pictures to show you how!!

*Use notepad and don’t copy and paste directly to your blog. In WP there is a little box that you can use to paste to.

Then you can open up another little box that is for pasting. See how you get 2 lines of editing options after you click on the Kitchen Sink button?

Then you need to click onthe “T” button to open up a box that you can paste your Notepad document to .

Select all of your Notepad Document (or just hit Ctrl “A”)

Copy by using Ctrl “C”  and when you open up the little Notepad box, hit Ctrl “V” to paste.

And there ya go!! You have pasted to your blog without all the crazy codes that can make your blog display(or not display) funny!!

When you have inserted your blog post into the “Edit Post” part of your WP blog, you can still edit and upload pics and make your blog fabulous!!

Easy, huh?

Hope yall are having an amazing day!! I know I am! =)

P.S. I have over here to the right a BLOG SET UP Guide that my very good friend Dean Holland wrote for us when we were in his Starting With Marketing class. It has very good videos about setting up your blog. You should check it out!!

Ebay and the Experts

See these Google ads on my blog? This theme has it already on there, so all I had to do was put my code in and VIOLA!! (There go those codes again!) Cool thing about it is, John shows us step by step in short little videos how to do it!! YAY!

I have learned more in the last 3 weeks of watching the videos and talking to the support desk than I knew in the whole time I have been blogging. Cool. I am finally getting it!! The techy part anyway.

I have been thinking about a niche and I really don’t know what to study and research. I really want to learn how to Ebay. That’s one of the reasons I have hooked up with John Thornhill. I am also a member of My Silent Team with Jim Cockrum for the same reason. Two of the best internet marketers on the planet. <<<I’m there!!

I would like to be an expert on Ebay, getting traffic and building a very responsive, trusting list. You always hear “the money is in the list!” Well, actually the money is in the relationship you have with your list and I think a ton of marketers need to learn how to build that relationship with their list. Do you get a ton of emails that you don’t even open? Or a ton of emails with the same crapola on them that was made in 1972 and folks are trying to pass it off as new and improved? I don’t want to be the gal that sends you that crap. I don’t want it and I sure don’t want to send it to YOU!!

Traffic is another doozie. Building a list and keeping them happy is challenging. Getting people to your website in the first place is a bigger challenge.

What do you think? What is your biggest challenge when you think about Internet Marketing? I am going to be an expert and I would like to give my readers what they want and need.

I once heard from a very experienced Internet Marketer that you can become an expert in anything in 30 days. Do you wanna know how to dance? Youtube. Do you wanna know how to cook? Google. Is the baby crying too much? Google it!

All the information we need is at out fingertips and there are a gazillion websites to show us how to become experts and help other people in the process!

Cool beans.

What do you excel in?

Masterclass Part 2

I finally got week 2 completed of John Thornhills Masterclass. We got our blogs uploaded and set up. Mine was already set up from before, but it has a new look. What do you think?

Did you know if you don’t have Permalinks set up correctly all you get when you look at your blog is…

404-Page Not Found!!!

Oh my goodness!! I was frantically trying to remember what it said before and going over the videos and everything I have learned, texting my guru friends to get it back to normal and ……and…..finally, the blog was back in action!! Scared me!! WHEW!

It’s supposed to say /%postname%.html/ (well, to get it to work on my blog anyway) Mine didn’t say that and when I put it in there, it still was NOT FOUND!! Freak out!! I mean how am I going to have a website if no one can see it!?! That little forward slash at the end really means something!

Oh well, sometimes I think I know something about codes and come to find out…I DON’T! Good thing the videos John makes are so easy to follow! One thing I do like about the videos is that they aren’t very long. Just long enough to go through a step and them on to the next one.

(Doesn’t it make you crazy when you get a video and it’s like 20-30 minutes long?? Who has time for that? I like 5-7 minute videos that get straight to the point. 2-3 minutes are even better!YAY!)

We also signed up for Clickbank. You know what that is, don’t you? It’s the biggest marketplace for digital stuff. That’s where you go to sell your awesome digital products or sign up to sell someone else’s. Cool.

So week 2 was pretty exciting for me. I am in the process of ordering my graphics and setting up what works.

Can’t wait to see what’s coming up! Google, I think. Y’all ever heard of GOOGLE?? Hmmmm…….

Leave me a comment below, let me know you stopped by and how you like the new theme.

Take care and God bless!! =)
