Stealing For Fun and Profit
Having a hard time finding something to write about? Not a professional writer? This could be the hardest thing about blogging! The dreaded WRITER’S BLOCK.
Boo!
Some folks write about whatever is on their mind, (like me) or create an online journal. But most bloggers know, you can’t just write about what you want, you have to think about what your readers want!!
So let’s do some research and get you unstuck!
Every day there are tons of searches in Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. The BIG search engines! Use these search terms to help you get ideas for blog posts!! AND more traffic to your blog!
No more writers block! No more lonely blogs….
K, stick with me here…
You could go over to Yahoo Answers, and put in a word that your blog is about. I put “blogging” in the search answers field. (You can put whatever you want. Whatever your blog is about.)
And this is what I got! 66 questions (66 blog topics!) Here are just a few. (And I copy/pasted, so I know the grammar isn’t perfect)
• How do I combine my loves to make a great blog?
• How to get more traffic to my Blog?
• Could you give me a topic for my blog, to make it more interesting?
• From where to start blogging? Suggest good blogging websites and also hot topics to write blog on.?
• How can I set up a link on my blog to a PDF file I have on my computer?
So I could write a blog post on how to set up a link to a PDF, or how to get traffic, or maybe some good blogging websites or themes, anything people are looking for!!
Easy huh? YUP!
Are you into How-to? Answers.com or About.com can also give you some great blogging ideas. Another one I just found today is Amazon.com and their reviews are full of ideas to blog about! Just pick a product like ‘blogging’ and scroll down to the bottom and there are a ton of customer reviews that are asking questions AND giving ideas!
And another one…Steal other people’s ideas! Did I say STEAL?
Yep!
Steal ‘em!!
You can visit popular blogs and see what other bloggers are talking about. I did that here in reference to Perry Marshall’s blog.
You don’t want to really steal their ideas, don’t copy/paste or plagiarize, but drum up some cool ideas of your own. I do it all the time! Reading other peoples’ blogs can spark up some new ideas and get your thought process going! Another perk to reading other blogs, you can leave quality comments on the blogs and get some exposure to people you might have never known. That’s called NETWORKING. (and social-butterfly-ness!) And please DON’T leave the dreaded comment….’nice post’ Blah!
Hopefully you have thought up some ideas for your blog posts! Be sure to you pay attention to which topics are the coolest so you will know which ones are most effective.
AND…I’ll be posting about blog titles in the near future….Sally Neill has got me thinking!(stealing from Sally, haha!)
Thanks Sally!
So I hope you are on your way to better blog topics! Titles are coming soon!
Lisa~
