Is Making Money Online Your True Passion
Hi Y’all!!
Now that the 100 comment challenge is over…(that was a job in itself), it’s time to blog!!
Are you in the Make Money Online niche? Are you making any money? Probably not. If you are, well then cool for you! If you aren’t…maybe it’s not your niche to begin with.
MMO is a very hard market to get into. I know, I have been online since last summer and I haven’t made enough money to pay a bill much less quit my job! Maybe it’s the WRONG NICHE?? Huh…never thought of that!
You have heard ‘find your passion’. Well in a sense that’s very true! If you want to make money and have a real live internet business, you should find something you could write or talk about all day long! Find the people who will buy your information and then market it!! EASY! (If you are shown how!)
I have a very good friend who is in the MMO niche and she’s not as successful as she would like to be. Trying to go it alone (well, with me and other friends) not getting the results she wants, etc, etc. I just found out she has a crafting site that will blow you away! Maybe she thought crafts weren’t the money maker, but she can write about it all day! But she has been steered to the MMO niche with all the guru hype and ‘coaching’ courses.
Now with her knowledge and expertise in crafts and quilting, do you think she could make a product with this? Maybe not a million dollar niche ( maybe it is!) but at least a ‘get your feet wet and jump right in’ niche ? Thoughts?
I know, I know they say “you can use this information in any niche” but can you really? When you are given all that information about making money online how are you going to change that to crafts and needlework? You’re not. Because the gurus who are making the money are doing it in the IM niche. So people think that’s the niche to be in to make some moolah!
What would make you successful? Being in a niche you know little about or something you actually like to do? AND are probably more of an expert in than most people??
Hmmm…let me see…let’s blog about making money online…work our butts off…get a non responsive list, ‘cause our list is newbies,(because that’s all we know)….newbies only want freebies because they are afraid of spending more money on the hype…so we aren’t making any money…and get up tomorrow and do it again! NOT!!!
That would cause most people to QUIT!
Or how’s this…blog about something I really like to do and know something about…find people who also want to do this…build a list of people who want what I have to offer…promote what I am doing to these people who are willing to pay for what I know……..make some money and have fun doing it because I am writing and talking to people who have the same passion? DUH!!!
Needless to say…I am stepping out of the make money online niche. Not forever, just for now. I have so many other things I like to do! So what if I made a product of something that I like to do…learned how to market it…build a list of people willing to pay for what I have to offer, did it again in a different niche that I like, got successful and THEN tell you how to make money online? After I have actually done it? Now THAT would build a responsive list!!
Sound like a plan? Stick around.
Leave me comments below, I would love to hear what you have to say about your niche, your passion and your real thoughts about the MMO niche!
Take care and God bless!

Hey Lisa
Awww I will miss ya
You have been my online money making buddy!
As you know I am super passionate about the internet marketing niche, it fascinates me.
So like other people have a passion for their niche, I have that passion for mine.
People are too general and try to target everything related to making money online, rather than focusing on one area of it, or a sub niche if you like to call it that.
Do you know something, you are such a warm loving person, I would LOVE to see you become a success online in any niche of your choice and I will help you any way I can, you know that right?
Now you have the marketing background, I bet you can become a super success outwith the mm niche, if that’s your passion.
Good luck chick, I’m rooting for ya, Sally x

I will be blogging about the steps I take to get a non-MMO product online and the success and failures that come along with it!!
Just not gonna tell people HOW to make money online until I actually do!!
Love ya!!

Hi Lisa
I feel the internet marketing niche is a mugs game. Too big, too competitive and of course there is the so called “gurus”. If you have big bucks to spend on the top of the range coaching programs and software it could be a different story. That does not mean you should not apply the principles though.
The next thing I do not agree with is “the list”. I do not see myself bombarding innocent victims with email after email trying to con them into buying some product I promote just because they were dumb enough to sign up for some stupid freeby I offered.
What I do believe in is organic traffic and getting it through backlinks. I am an affiliate marketer targeting smaller but popular niches with a moderate degree of success. I get good traffic through backlinking. I also use backlinking to get organic traffic to my offline business websites.
Thanks for a great read.

Deon, you hit the nail on the head with not wanting to send your list crap just because of some freebie!
When I was getting started and meeting new people, I helped someone do a product launch. BIG mistake! I sent my poor list email after email….my friend even told me to quit spamming him!!
Never gonna do that again!
Having a responsive list is the most important thing in our business, we need to treat it like a princess!!
So…smaller non MMO niche for me! And when I get this product completed, I am gonna do it again!
Might need to pick your brain on that backlinking!
Thanks for stopping by!
Take care!

Hi Lisa
Thanks for the response.
I am not the worlds greatest expert on backlinking but I know enough to get good traffic from it. I just purchased this great course and I am learning heaps from it. If you are interested send me a mail and I will send you the link to their site. It will not be an affiliate link as I don’t deal in IM products.
I will be glad to help where I can. We all need more traffic. Especially free targeted organic traffic.
Kind Regards

Hi Liza, Such a very cool post. I believe in all kinds of business, It is best to consider if you are on the field you liked most. It is very much important that you’re interested on what you are doing because there is some scene that people who fall on this doesn’t even mind the income coming, soon they find out they have it. They are just happy because they love what they are doing, for me, that’s the real essence of success.
Hi Abbie,
We are on the same page here….success is doing what you love to do and making a living from it! Then you never have to work again
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Have an amazing day and God bless!!

Hi Lisa
Great blog post and so true. Everything you do and read seems to end up something to do with MMO. Every time I try to move towards something different it always seems to come back round. I have now started looking at PLR products in order to find some good ideas. I really hope this works and that I can get back on track with JT’s course which I am now about 20 weeks behind on because of 1 thing and another.
Take care
Chris
Hi Chris,
I too am about 15 weeks behind, but you know what??? It’s still gonna be there!
I am going through some videos this morning to see what I can do next! I know they are in order but…..I never read the directions!! Hahaha!
Thanks for stopping by!

Lisa,
Nice post! It’s true that making money online is so much more fun and rewarding when you actually passionate about it and loving what you do. Your plan seems pretty cool.. I’ll stick around and see what product you can come up with in the future. Cheers!
Thanks Justin,
I am actually working on who my target market is, and a sales page right now. Copywriting is so important! Gotta at least learn the basics or pay some awesome guru thousands of dollars to do it for you! NOT! or at least at the moment… NOT!!
I will keep y’all informed….
Thanks and God bless!!

Hi Liza,
Making money online is really amazing. I must say that i have come to love this job. I learned a lots of things and above all i met a lot of great people. I believe passion is inseparable to succeed.
Hi Lisa,
I don’t class myself as in the IM niche. My first product was on “Learning How To Spray Tan” You can’t get more micro niched than that!
Learning how to make money online is the education side of things. The REAL money is on dominating the smaller niches.
Now imagine this………………
You have a product in crafts like you mentioned lets say “halloween crafts” to be specific. You create the product, set up the website do a little promotion and then let it sit on autopilot. This product is quite happy making 2 sales a week at lets say $30 each. @60 per week. Some say that isn’t much.
Next you create another product in the craft niche on decorating eggs “Faberge Eggs” and you do the same. Now you are earning @120 per week on 2 sales each a week.
Next you create another small product on “Christmas crafts” etc etc etc. Are you starting to see a pattern here?
Next imagine when you have 30 products all making 2 sales a week @30 each. Your income is @1800 per week!!
Micro niche marketing is the way to go!!
Now imagine this. You have 30 little products all making you money each week on auto pilot, some friends approach you to help them get their product idea online. You say “yeah cool how about you create the product I’ll get it online and we will go halves!”
Next you will have a whole heap of little micro niched joint venture products you are apart of all making a little bit of money online!!
DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!!!
Cheers

Hey Girl!!
Yup! You got it!! I am working my way to writing about things I love to do!
And yes, Spray tan is a mini micro itty bitty niche and you got it handled!
I am learning from the best and I am hoping to get a product online by the end of the year.
Working on the sales page right now. Learning from a pro. Gonna be selling ice in Alaska soon!
Now THAT’S some copywriting!
Looking forward to talking to you soon! Gonna have to Skype ya!
Take care girlfriend and have an amazing day!!
Lisa~
Hi Lisa,
Cool!! Sounds really exciting. I realised a couple of weeks ago the best way to go about this online world is to actually walk the talk first!
My spray tanning website has been sitting there doing nothing. I haven’t even marketed it. I believe we need to use a combination of marketing and micro niche tactics.
I know that JT teaches us to look for a niche that is making money, however I tend to disagree. I believe we should create products in niches we love. OK yes we need to know it is slightly viable such as how many searches are happening per month.
I believe as long as there is a minimum of about 1,000 searches a month you have something possible. It might only bring in one sale a week, however imagine when you have the 30 products bringing in one sale a week!
Leave the make money online niche to the big boys and get your but into gear on actually making money online!!
Good luck luvly!
Cheers

Your so right that when first starting out many people go down the make money online route cause they are told too and I for one am guilty of that.
Congratulations on making the decision to go to another niche and I’m sure its the best decision you’ll ever make.
I too have been thinking of changing niches and your post has given me the inspiration to go for it, so we can hold each others hand if you like (lol).
Go for it girl and I wish you every success.

MMO is indeed enticing to a novice, but once we try we will find that its not easy. I believe that in order to earn, one must provide something of value to others; without such value nothing will be reciprocated. Perhaps finding our passion is the key over which we really can make something valuable that others may want.
Well done for taking the right decision
There is no point swapping an off-line job for an on-line one that you do not have a passion for.
Follow your passion and take those that share your passion on your journey.
Look forward to hearing how your journey goes

Hi Lisa
The problem I have with the ‘Make Money’ niche is that it doesn’t make sense in itself – essentially it hinges on selling information telling people how to make money and is thus infected with hype and broad claims.
I prefer to call it the Internet Marketing Niche as it is the overall niche which teaches you what you should be doing to market your offering.
I think far too many people get hung up on the make money thing whilst failing to visualise how they are going to do it – what can they bring to the table that is slightly different to the rest of the crowd and what there is a demand for.
The truth is that most money made out of IM is through coaching, continuity programs and software/systems that are designed to support an online business.
So your approach of following your passion is right as long as you correctly research the subtle things like keywords to ensure that you are not competing against big players who spend huge amounts on SEO.
One you have settled on this then its time to apply your marketing knowledge to promote your offering to the masses.
Good post BTW

Hi Lisa…
Very wise post indeed! After being in this online world myself for over nearly two years now I would have to agree with your info.
Passion is what drives things and it is much easier to keep the love flowing when you are working within your passion. I do think it is a grave mistake to believe that we must be in the IM niche or MMO niche in order to make a decent living online.
I am actually starting to believe the opposite! People are now coming online to learn just about anything and everything. So, if you can put together a tutorial teaching them what they want to know…you have a money maker…even if its about quilting!
My daughter told me the other day that she went looking for info online about how to install zippers on clothing (she’s into sewing right now)…she found an ebook on the subject for $5. and bought it immediately. Is that going to make the author rich? No…but multiply that product by having many simple products out there…and you could make a nice living.
Anyway…I’ll be following you closely girl…

Just saw your comment! My bad!
Think of how many times you have had a problem or situation and went straight to the internet to get a fix. That’s where the money is!
Now if the zipper gal also has info on buttons, elastic, hemming, etc…she has a goldmine!!
Hey! You just gave me an idea! Cool!
I say (if anyone is listening) Go with your passion and the making Money online will be a no brainer!!
Love you girl….can’t wait till you put out your first product on your TRUE passion!!
You are such a wonderful, beautiful ‘Princess’

Hi Lisa:
You bring up an interesting point. I am in the process of choosing a niche and found the niche I wanted was not profitable on ClickBank, so now I am considering Internet Marketing. I am not sure how one promotes a small niche (i.e. vegan diet) that lacks profitability?
Anthony
Hi Anthony,
Why wouldn’t vegan diet be a good niche? I know lots of folks who are vegan and with the tree hugging ‘green’ niche…..folks are vegan!! Have you checked out Amazon and ebay? Vegan!
Maybe the vegan people don’t know anything about clickbank, I say if its your passion, do it! There are a lot of sites on google that are vegan recipes and vegan living.
What about a vegan membership site?
All I know is I saw the WOW! in Internet Marketing niche just like everyone else. I love to blog, I am a social butterfly, but…..I can’t show you how to make money online if I haven’t done it myself.
But… I can show you how to lose 47 pounds! I can show you how to cook for 7 picky eaters! I can show you some tips on how to save the planet! I can help you with self worth, self esteem and being positive no matter what is going on in your life! I can even show you how to paint a ceramic Christmas Tree!!
So I say if Vegan Living is your passion….go for it! It might or might not make you a gazillion dollars, but at least you will know HOW and WHY and that’s worth more than any MMO niche!
Thanks for stopping by!
Lisa~
P.S.Just remember…write your sales page first!!
Lisa. You did it again… You hit the nail right on the head.
I’ve backed away from IM because it just isn’t me right now.
For those that don’t know it’s me Lisa is talking about in the post and because of Lisa’s encouragement I’m now looking into building a brand new crafts and quilting site (or sites).
Why didn’t I just stick to my niche in the first place? I’m not saying that IM is dead, no no no far from it and I’ve learned loads from Lisa and Sally and Randy and all the others that I’ve met along the way, but it just isn’t my thing.
So I’m going back to what I love the most, Crafts and Quilting.
Lisa you are the best.
Give me a little time and I’ll let you know where you can find my new sites.
All the best my friend.

Gert!! So glad you stopped by and commented! Yes, it’s you! My wonderful friend!! I saw your crafting site and wondered why you were in the MMO niche when you have so much cool info to offer!
I loved the craft site you sent me to and I had to blog about it! When it’s ready for some action, let me know and I will get the word out!!
And all the learning from Randy, Sally and others only helps you to know how and why!!
You made me think really hard about why am I in a niche I know nothing about when I could be writing about something I loved to do, and helping other folks in the process!!
And Gert, you have helped me so much I really wish you the best and all of God’s blessing in everything you do!!
Now get that site up and running and I will be your FIRST customer!! YAY!!
Lisa~
p.s. Gert, you are the sweetest gal ever from across the pond!!

So have you decided what your niche is gonna be? What your product is gonna be? Damn, now you got me thinking… like always. Hmmm… what to do, what to do?
I like the part where you say, “so we aren’t making any money…and get up tomorrow and do it again! NOT!!!” I never thought about it that way. Great point.
Thanks Lisa!!!
Hi Ed!
Thanks for stopping by the blog!
How about…..diet and health in everyday life! You know, everyday that I have to feed 7 picky eaters and eat something different when I want burritos and pizza!!
How’s that for a plan? Lose weight while the kids eat pizza??
I have quite a few things I am gonna do. Just have to do them one at a time!
I really wish you would get into your baseball niche and rule the internet with all the knowledge you have about it! I know how much you love baseball!!
Tell me…..why aren’t you??
Thanks and God bless!!

Hey Lisa, good writing, good topic and great insights! Your intuition is extraordinary! MMO is one tough nut to crack and especially since it’s as flooded as the day Noah put to sea. Niche marketing is the new MMO flavor of the last couple years and it’s potential is strong enough to make it worth the effort I pray. Today I see internet marketing as a starting point, a knowledge base and a place from which to grow and learn. Tomorrow, I’ll return to my passions, guitars and music. I’ll continue to write and play and sing songs new and old and I’ll forget for a time that money ever mattered to me at all. Then of course I’ll return to my computer again and try to crack the money nut like Pavlov’s sick dog. lol Steve D.

Great idea! I say!!
Good thing is that we have or are learning how to market no matter what niche we think we need to be in! After we find/make a product, we will know how to get it out there to the world!
THAT’S when the fun starts!!
Take care and God bless!!
Lisa~
Hi Lisa, you’re absolutely right. Knowledge about internet marketing is going to be of great help in any niche. I did see the video you mentioned only last week. It’s quite amazing to see and hear. And yes, with over 79 million views now it must have brought one huge response to the affiliate link below the video. I can only imagine the sales that were made. I’d like to try something similar as soon as possible to find out for myself what could be. Thanks for the encouragement Lisa. Take care, Steve D.
Hey hey!!
Great to see you doing so well with your blog here, looking fantastic!

Well done Lisa, expressing something a lot of us out here are thinking. 8) I’m on the same plan as you, though further behind by the sound of it.
I dropped out of the Masterclass at lesson 10 in 2009, and just concentrated on my blog, ONLY writing posts about what I’m interested in, and nothing else. After about a year I realised I had written a lot about running, painting and comics. So I now have websites for all those passions.
Next step is to make some money out of it. Then when I have, and only when I have, I will offer Internet Marketing advice. You have to walk the walk, BEFORE you talk the talk.
I shall be back, I like your style. 8)
