6 Easy Tips to A Better Blog

I’ve heard from some really cool bloggers that readers like checklists. (I have also heard they SUCK!) but I did it anyway!!

You know, blogging is a very cool hobby or business to have. You can post exactly what’s on your mind(within reason). It’s YOUR blog isn’t it? It’s also very cool to see that you have a new reader or your traffic has increased to your blog! There are even advertisers that offer money for blogs that get lots of traffic, so blogging can also make you some moo-lah too! Yay!

Tip #1 | Be yourself

The best blogs are not written using formal grammar rules. You don’t want to think about our 7th grade Language Arts teacher reading your blog and correcting your grammar. Now I am not saying that you should just write anything but honestly, being formal is boring and your readers don’t want to read through a bunch of perfect grammar posts. So if you want your blog to be popular, write it like you are talking to your friends.

Maybe not the “What’s up Dawg?” type, but a normal conversation. You can use slang and other words that may not be “proper” (don’t get nasty, tho). Although I did have one reader tell me that y’all was not a word! (It is in MY book!!) Being funny is also a good way to make people want to keep coming back to read your posts.

Tip #2 | Spell Check

Even though the tone of your blog is casual, edit your work. You can be casual, without being sloppy or rude. Check your spelling before you submit your post. You don’t want posts that are sloppy and full of errors. People will wonder why they should listen to you and probably won’t take anything you say seriously. So remember to SPELL CHECK!

Tip #3 | No Long Posts

Short blog posts will help you keep your readers. Most folks don’t want to spend a ton of time reading blog posts. Stick to your point and keep it short. A blog that is about 400-500 words is more likely to be read. If you have more to write, make another blog post. Give your readers a break.

Tip # 4 | Flexibility

Be flexible with your blog posts. If you have a niche blog, post about different topics in your chosen niche. If you have a lifestyle blog, then there are tons of things you can write about. Just be flexible. Post on everything you are interested in. There are millions of people interested in the same thing. You could even post about popular things in the news, (politics and religion might get you in a blog fight) but current events can bring people to your site when they do a web search! That’s what’s called FREE traffic!

Tip #5 | Advertising Woes

This is a biggie! Too many people only advertise things on their blog and have no real content. Now if you have a review blog, that’s another story, but is a review blog really a blog? Or just advertising space? Advertising is OK but be nice about it. Give great content and if you find something that will help your readers, then by all means, put it on your blog. But not every post and not every page. You don’t want to scare people away!!

Tip # 6 | Last but not least (and MY biggest blogging failure) Consistency!

Folks who read your blog will be looking for a new post every few days. Maybe only once a week. But if you want to keep your blog fresh(and have new subscribers), then you have to post often. Maybe you put new posts up every Saturday. If you do, then be consistent! If you are keeping your blog posts short and sweet (as mentioned above) then you should be able to at least post once a week. 2-3 times is better. I read a blog that has a new post every Tuesday morning, so on Tuesday morning, I go to see what’s new. Now if there wasn’t a new post on Tuesday, I would probably be disappointed because Tuesday morning has been the “new blog post” day for over a year. So, be consistent!

I ‘m checkin the word count here so…..feel free to leave your comments and if you have any more tips or suggestions or want  to expand on what I have here,  I would love to hear them!

And remember to share, stumble, tweet, digg, facebook, whatever!

God Bless!

The Missing Link to Having Your Own Internet Business

Have you been bombarded with product launch after product launch? What to do? Where to go? Who to turn to?

OMGoodness!

STOP!

Stop doing what you are doing and getting what you are getting!

I was even in 3 different internet marketing classes at one time! Talk about over-load!!

No matter where you look on the internet today, you’ll find LOTS of people offering you an instant solution to everything. Google it! There are millions! Instant products, instant traffic, instant riches. Instant, instant and more  instant!! Been there…done that…bought the T-Shirt!!

NOT!!

So you get sucked into spending more time and money on product launches (or the next big shiny object) and you are not building a long term business! :( And you want long term right? No churn and burn! Nope! Churn and burn is NOT for me!!

You know what? Building an internet business is not “instant” Not long term anyway. And thinking like that will restrict your vision. Visions of 20k sign up in 1 day! YAY!

I could go on and on about the subject of starting money making websites and building passive income from them for DAYS if I wanted to! Just look at previous blog posts! But… I have to be honest…I don’t know everything there is to know about it. I really only scratch the surface.

So what do I do? Where do I go? Who do I talk to?

I turn to a guy who’s got IM nailed down tight.

I’m talking about one of the TOP UK Information Marketers -

Neil Stafford.

You’ve heard of “know, like and trust”? He’s the man!!  And he is the person I  listen to when it comes to starting out on the Internet, building a solid business or anything else about IM for that matter. Ya wanna know why?

Neil is VERY successful. He has been online building a business and marketing his own brand of top-notch products and services for over 11 years! Tell me that doesn’t stand the “test of time”! And because of the simple systems and concepts he uses; he’s more successful than ever.

Did I say SIMPLE???  Yup!

SIMPLE.

So I have some good news for ya that will help your Internet Marketing efforts; Neil is opening the doors on a flagship Internet business start-up product for a LIMITED period of time! YAY!

The Internet Business Start Up Kit

The kit consists of 5 main components and 6 awesome bonuses. Everything you need to get up and running with your own online business is in the Internet Business Start Up Kit.

Nothing is left out.

And you won’t be asked to buy yet another ‘shiny new object” just to get going! Honesty and integrity!

This is an in depth, easy to follow, complete course… not some crappy product that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know in the hope you’ll buy the next product at a higher price. Nope!

Neil has left nothing out! When you’re just starting out online, you know you just want a road map with all the directions laid out in front of you…. I did.

And if you do need to ask for help, you want someone to respond ASAP, knowing someone will be there that you can trust!!

If you’re a non techy(like me) and just starting out, you’ll get direct access to Neil’s techy guy, the same person who helps him, for any questions you have…honestly, I can’t describe all the awesomeness of The Internet Business Start Up Kit, so Neil put up some details to explain everything.

The Internet Business Start Up Kit

Unfortunately, if you’re looking for an INSTANT ‘get rich quick’, then this isn’t for you. :( But if you’re smart (and you realize you have do some work), then The Internet Business Start Up Kit can seriously increase your income when you get your hands on it and start building your long term business.

So get on over there and start building your Internet future with Neil as your guide…and I will see you over there!

The Internet Business Start Up Kit

Have fun and God bless you all! :)

Lisa~

P.S. And the bonuses? They are worth like £785.00. (that’s UK dollars!!)

You’ll also find out how to grow your new business through Article Marketing and Blogging (YAY!); plus you get exclusive access to Neil’s private Membership site that I love so much and monthly hard copy offline Newsletter (via snail mail…I still get excited when I open it!)

Can it get any better than this? :o

Who Do You Listen To?

When you first start out as an Internet marketer or a blogger, there is so much you think you have to learn. Blogging, websites, WordPress, plugins, HTML, niches, social media, marketing, auto responders, product creation…etc. etc. (bet that got your head spinning!!) So who do you listen to? Do you have a plan?

I have been blogging, adswapping, tweeting, facebooking, AND Skyping and a few “coaching” courses and yes, I have built up some great relationships, but it’s not paying the bills…yet.

There I said it…YET!

Because I have a plan.

I have recently joined a membership site from some really cool guys in the UK who are actually making an awesome living online. (NOT in the MMO niche, in fact they have various niches) And they love what they are doing!! It is one of the best sites I have ever seen! Now you may or may not have heard of them, so……

I would like to present to you…Drum Roll please…The Two Neils and Andy Brown!!!! YAY!!

Since I have joined Internet Marketing Review, I have really got my focus back. Focusing on the things that are crucial to my business and not focusing on the busy work a lot of guru’s and teachers tell their students to do. Focusing on my business, not theirs!

The site also has a forum where I can go and ask questions and not feel like a dork for asking such daft (new word I learned) questions. I get answers almost immediately from people who have been there and done that! (Know what was my first question? What’s my PLAN??) And blogging, facebooking, tweeting, adswapping, etc was NOT the answer!! Surprised? NOT!

The other folks who are in this membership site are real professional information marketers who are making money and authors who have #1 books (not just ebooks) who started out just like you and me! And they answer my questions like “what do I do now?” or “how does this sound?” There are also new folks in there, too. Just starting out. Also asking questions that get answered by professionals! Yay!

You know what else is cool? They DON’T have to tell people they are ETHICAL because their actions show it!

So what do I get? Honesty. Not the hyped up “oh you are so wonderful” that a lot of forums have. You know what I mean, those forums where the moderators just pump you up and tell you it’s OK and wonderful when it’s really crap!! Internet Marketing Review forum tells me if it’s really good or if it needs a little fixing! They also tell me how to fix it and why. Like “change this here, because…” or “write it like this” or “try this and test it” and they tell me the next step! (But let’s not go on to Step 2 until you have step 1 down. Gotta focus on the basics first!)

No hype, no BS. Just answers to my questions and a really cool forum. There is no information overload, no information to promote only them and no pushing me to do “busy work” that only gets the other “coaches” more traffic and sales! If you have ever been in a coaching class, you know what I mean….”Here let me give you this book that you can build your list with and it has all my links in it, so the traffic you get from building your list goes to MY website!” (Side note…not everyone does that, John Thornhills Masterclass is one of the best and he’s really helpful and giving, but I have seen quite a few others!)

Wanna know what else I get? A CD every month that has some of the best teaching I have ever heard. I just got one this week that totally blew me away!! I have already listened to it twice and seriously, I am amazed! What I am learning I can apply to my business immediately!

I also get a real-live-printed-out-sent-to-me-snail-mail newsletter that gives me so much more information. Information that works and is being used as I write this! Not ebooks that were made in 2007! New info that’s good for 2010 and beyond!

And how do I get this? I joined Internet Marketing Review. They have a 2 month trial. It’s less than 10 pounds (that’s UK money) How cool is that?

I mean, ask a coaching guru who their successful students are. Ask who has made it online because of their teaching. You would be surprised.

If you are a seasoned marketer and you have found that all the crap on the internet is just giving Internet Marketing a bad name and you want to see how it’s done without all the doo-doo or if you are new and looking for that “something” to get your online business focused and growing, take a look at Internet Marketing Review. Could be the answer to your prayers!!

If you are already a member of Internet Marketing Review or want to know more about it, leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts and experiences. And, let me know….who do you listen to? I would really like to know!

Take care and God Bless!!

Lisa~

p.s. And please, please, please remember…be careful who you listen to!
