Stealing For Fun and Profit
Having a hard time finding something to write about? Not a professional writer? This could be the hardest thing about blogging! The dreaded WRITER’S BLOCK.
Boo!
Some folks write about whatever is on their mind, (like me) or create an online journal. But most bloggers know, you can’t just write about what you want, you have to think about what your readers want!!
So let’s do some research and get you unstuck!
Every day there are tons of searches in Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. The BIG search engines! Use these search terms to help you get ideas for blog posts!! AND more traffic to your blog!
No more writers block! No more lonely blogs….
K, stick with me here…
You could go over to Yahoo Answers, and put in a word that your blog is about. I put “blogging” in the search answers field. (You can put whatever you want. Whatever your blog is about.)
And this is what I got! 66 questions (66 blog topics!) Here are just a few. (And I copy/pasted, so I know the grammar isn’t perfect)
• How do I combine my loves to make a great blog?
• How to get more traffic to my Blog?
• Could you give me a topic for my blog, to make it more interesting?
• From where to start blogging? Suggest good blogging websites and also hot topics to write blog on.?
• How can I set up a link on my blog to a PDF file I have on my computer?
So I could write a blog post on how to set up a link to a PDF, or how to get traffic, or maybe some good blogging websites or themes, anything people are looking for!!
Easy huh? YUP!
Are you into How-to? Answers.com or About.com can also give you some great blogging ideas. Another one I just found today is Amazon.com and their reviews are full of ideas to blog about! Just pick a product like ‘blogging’ and scroll down to the bottom and there are a ton of customer reviews that are asking questions AND giving ideas!
And another one…Steal other people’s ideas! Did I say STEAL?
Yep!
Steal ‘em!!
You can visit popular blogs and see what other bloggers are talking about. I did that here in reference to Perry Marshall’s blog.
You don’t want to really steal their ideas, don’t copy/paste or plagiarize, but drum up some cool ideas of your own. I do it all the time! Reading other peoples’ blogs can spark up some new ideas and get your thought process going! Another perk to reading other blogs, you can leave quality comments on the blogs and get some exposure to people you might have never known. That’s called NETWORKING. (and social-butterfly-ness!) And please DON’T leave the dreaded comment….’nice post’ Blah!
Hopefully you have thought up some ideas for your blog posts! Be sure to you pay attention to which topics are the coolest so you will know which ones are most effective.
AND…I’ll be posting about blog titles in the near future….Sally Neill has got me thinking!(stealing from Sally, haha!)
Thanks Sally!
So I hope you are on your way to better blog topics! Titles are coming soon!

Hi Lisa, nice post! Ha! Actually I read a blog post this week about a site that suggests topics for posting about. Wish I could remember what it was or even whose blog it was on! Loads of help, aren’t I! I do regularly visit around 240 blogs though so it’s not surprising I can’t remember who says what specifically. Anyway, when I read a post I want to refer to I always bookmark it and then name it in the post I write, giving the person a link, as you have done! Great idea and really helpful for ranking. Most of my ideas come from everyday occurrences. An idea just pops into my head or I think ‘I’ll tell my readers about that’. Ideas from others is a great one though.
Enjoy the journey.

nice post.. (just kidding) thanks for sharing.. (kidding again I gotta stop sorry) I believe artistry is all about looking at what is around you to capture ideas and to bring them to a next level, to improve them, to make them yours. I think this could be the key, if you are going to ‘steal’ an idea from someone you have to improve it or modify it in some ways to truly make it yours..
Hello Andrea,
Yes, if yo are gonna steal, you really should modify it and make it better.
Like a ‘chop shop’
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Hey lisa..Great post again…And i gotta confess…Sometime i too “steal” topics to write on from best blogs in the category…But lets not call it stealing..lets call it “presenting our opinions and views” on the same things only because they’re good enough topics
Hello Ankit,
Sometimes?? Very cool.
I also read the best blogs and get ideas from them. Sometimes I even write about it!

Hi Lisa,
Great suggestion using Yahoo answers etc. I actually used yahoo answers to help me write my spray tanning book!
Those sites are great not just for creating blogging content but also for actually doing research for creating actual products!
Good to see you are back on board!
Hope everything is going well.

Hi Jacinta!!
Glad you stopped by! you are one of the gals I look up to and if YOU can use Yahoo Answers, so can I!
I know it’s hard to imagine but there are tons of new bloggers and folks who want to learn set up and blogging everyday! So even tho we aren’t new, we can be there to help and guide them in the right direction.
The internet is such a big place. There are so many things we will never even see! So many people we will never get to meet. Gotta take care of the folks we do meet!!
Thanks Girl, I appreciate it!
Lisa~
Lisa,
Thanks for ideas for writer’s block. I’ve thought about going to Yahoo answers, etc. but got writer’s block when I got there! So just enter “blogging” or something so simple. Who would’ve known? YOU!
So thanks again for the great ideas. See you again.
Kat Williams
PS Gotta get to blogging on my own blog.
Hello Kat!!
Glad I could help! I think sometimes we as entrepreneurs over think things and it really is very simple!
I think I will hop on over to your blog and see the action!
Thanks and have a wonderful day!!
Lisa~
Hey Lisa,
I have never tried out Yahoo answers before, but I am testing lots of great free traffic methods, and a lot of them send a ton of traffic, so I will take your suggestion and add it to my list!
Congrats on the weight loss, been watching your updates on fb and you seem like a woman on a mission!

I am enjoying your posts and updates. You seem like a man on a mission, too!!
Isn’t this so much FUN???
Glad I gave you an idea and when you get that traffic squared away, let me know…..I need more traffic!

Hi Lisa, stopped over from Sally (mad Scot) Neill
nice post
Oh, er, sorry.
Excellent Title, just MAKES YOU want to read it – so I did!
Thanks for the tips up here, I learned something new today, and that’s good.
I often find that reading other people’s posts often gives readers the “What to” and “Why”, but rarely the real “How to”
A bit of research or your own knowledge and – voila – a simlar post, but with more meat on it.
Thank Again

Hi Alan,
I really like ‘how to’ posts as well. I even prefer screen shots over video if you can believe that! As much as video is taking over, give me a manual and screen shots any day!
I am glad you learned something new today. makes blogging more worthwhile!
Take care and talk to ya soon!!
Lisa~
Thank you, Lisa, for the eye opener and suggestions of checking out other people’s blogs. I never would have thought about Amazon reviews as a place to find ideas but you are certainly right.
Hello Glen,
I wrote a post about a question or something I read in amazon reviews, just can’t remember which one it was!! I think it was something about weight loss! I thought it was a really good idea!!
Glad you stopped by!! and Thanks!

Hi Lisa
God it’s hard coming up with blog posts isn’t it and its so much easier if you know what people want to know about.
Some great ideas you’ve listed here.
Forums are another place to look for ideas for blog posts.
Look to see what people are asking for help with and see if you can write a post about it.
Catch you later

Great ideas, girlie! I just hang out in Randy’s forum….so little time, can’t ya see how long it took me to get these comments answered??
I know there are a lot of new folks on the warrior forum and digital point forum, so yes, those are great places to go for ideas!
And you know people are asking things we never even thought of!!
Thanks for stopping by and God bless!
Lisa~
One technique I’ve used for thinking up article ideas is to find questions being asked on forums (or ‘answers’ sites as you mentioned), create an article-based reply and link it in the thread or as a question response.
You’ll get all the visits from people searching the same question and Dofollow would be a bonus.
Hello L,
Sounds good to me!! I have just started in the article marketing stuff but thanks for giving me ideas….hmmm….Yes, that is a great idea!! DUH!! why didn’t I think of that?
Thanks!!
Lisa~
Hi Lisa, I’m more than a little late getting here – but for more ideas you might look at Lynette’s site at Blogenergizer.com
I never actually used her ideas as I stopped writing (shame on me) but she certainly keeps up quite a stream of good prompts!
